Indonesia Law Career

Jakarta, May 2025. Dr. Eddy M. Leks, Managing Partner of Leks&Co, was honored to be a speaker on the Indonesia law career at the Webinar PCLC 2025, organized by the Private and Commercial Law Community of FH UNNES Semarang. The session carried the theme “Navigating Career Paths in Business Law.”

In his talk, Dr. Leks outlined the formal steps to becoming a lawyer in Indonesia. He also touched on optional legal specializations such as capital markets, bankruptcy, and tax law that require further certification and training.

Beyond the technical process, Dr. Leks emphasized the wide array of knowledge and skills lawyers need to succeed, ranging from mastering general and sector-specific legal principles to honing abilities in negotiation, legal writing, public speaking, and legal research. He also underlined the importance of ethics, critical thinking, analytical reasoning, client management, and professionalism in legal practice. In addition, he also shares questions on how to become an arbitrator in Indonesia.
